It’s
already time for the final games (nine and ten) of the regular season for the
Arizona Derby Dames 2010 inaugural banked track roller derby season. With
August playoff positions being determined by the outcomes of this double
header, the competition is sure to be intense.
The
Coffin Draggers, who narrowly lost to the Bombshells in June by a mere four
points in the final jam of the game, are still in contention for a three-way
tie for a first place record if they defeat the as of now undefeated Schoolyard
Scrappers. The Bombshells are also in contention for that three-way tie for
first place if they beat the Runaway Brides and the Coffin Draggers defeat the
Schoolyard Scrappers. A first place ranking at the end of July means that team
automatically advances to the Arizona Derby Dames 2010 banked track
championship in September, while the remaining four teams compete in a three
game mini-tournament playoff on August 21 to vie for the remaining spot in the
championship.
Current
rankings and records as of the outcomes of the June games are as follows:
Schoolyard
Scrappers: 3 wins, 0 losses
Bombshells:
2 wins, 1 loss
Coffin
Draggers: 2 wins, 1 loss
Runaway
Brides: 1 win, 2 losses
Brutal
Beauties: 0 wins, 4 losses
The
teams’ win/loss records determine rankings. In the case of a tie between two
teams, the team who won in the match up during the regular season prevails in
the rankings. In the case of a three-way tie, the rankings will be determined
by total points accumulated during the 2010 Arizona Derby Dames regular season
by each team tied for a position. The remaining teams’ rankings will be
determined by their win/loss record for the season.

Only a
handful of modern all-women skater-operated roller derby leagues in the world
own and skate on a banked track. Arizona Derby Dames are proud to be bringing a
traditionally inspired brand of roller derby with a new age twist to
Phoenix. In 2010, Arizona
Derby Dames joined the ranks of roller derby leagues like the Los Angeles Derby
Dolls, the TXRD Lonestar Rollergirls in Austin, Red Dirt Rebellion Rollergirls
in Oklahoma City and the San Diego Derby Dolls that are the new breed of unscripted,
ultra-competitive, 100 percent real banked track roller derby.
