“Every dollar we raise will go toward food, clothing, shelter, and other ways of benefiting families living in Rocky Point. Many of these families live without electricity or running water in their homes,” said Brian Wright, tour organizer. “The course is great for someone riding on a multi-day tour for the first time and veteran cyclists will find challenges as well.”
The group will leave the south side of Phoenix, Arizona on Wednesday, December 1st at 8:30 a.m. and arrive in Rocky Point, Mexico on Friday afternoon, December 3rd. There will be two overnights where the group will camp underneath the stars in tents with needed supplies. There will be lead and following cars escorting the tour providing all needed resources and supplies, while ensuring safety and security along the way. There will be a police escort from the Mexican border to Rocky Point. The total distance for the tour is 212 miles which will be broken down into three daily rides.
Day 1: December 1st : Phoenix – Gila Bend - 74 Miles
Day 2: December 2nd : Gila Bend – Border (US side) - 76 Miles
Day 3: December 3rd : Border (US side) – Rocky Point - 62 Miles
“We are looking for contributors to donate to this worthy cause and cyclists to participate in the ride.”
Each rider will secure sponsors on a per mile basis. Non-riders can support a rider with a $0.25 per mile contribution by visiting www.weekendmissions.com to make a donation.
This will be an incredible opportunity to benefit people who have so little in their lives and are in great need of help; an opportunity to make a difference together.
