life.
Soroka has been going around the state attempting to raise funds
needed to get his four-year-old cousin, Isaiah, a bone marrow
transplant.
Soroka told ‘N Touch News that his cousin has been diagnosed with a
rare condition known as Fanconi Anemia. There are only 1,000 people in
the entire world that have it and if Isaiah doesn't get treatment, he
will die.

called Fanconi’s anemia.
FA prevents bone marrow from making enough new blood cells for the
body to work normally. FA also can cause bone marrow to make many
faulty blood cells. This can lead to serious health problems, such as
leukemia.
Children who have Fanconi syndrome pass large amounts of key nutrients
and chemicals through their urine.
Blood and marrow stem cell transplant is the major advance in
treatment. However,
Soroka says that they have exhausted the donor database and have to
use unconventional stem cell methods that insurance will not cover.
“His parents are trying in vitro fertilization and have to continue to
test for viable embryos,” said Soroka. “The process is very expensive
and insurance will not cover it. This is Isaiah's only chance. We need
your help.”
The next fundraiser is a free No Limit Texas Hold 'em Poker Tournament
will be hosted by the Alternative Poker Tour at Icepics Video Bar on
Memorial Day, Monday, May 28, at 6 p.m. A donation of $25 is
recommended and a meal is included.
“We have a four-year-old boy, full of life and energy, at risk of
dying from a rare disease and really, the only thing in our way is the
cost of the procedures to find a marrow match,” said Soroka.
Soroka told ‘N Touch that he is trying to raise $5,000 at this one
event, either through poker players or general donations.
“This poker tournament is about coming out to help save Isaiah's
life,” said APT co-owner Cinde “Tater” Byrne. “The community has
pulled together to provide a great atmosphere and prizes. Players are
not just making a donation to this young boy's cause they are getting
a fun afternoon of poke. APT has the resources to help make this a
big success and experience for everyone whether you are a seasoned
poker player or it is your first time playing. APT is proud to be a
community poker league that truly supports the community and we
wouldn't miss the opportunity to help for the world.”
The Alternative Poker Tour is a free poker entertainment company
